Christmas at the Whitehouse Manor - Nov 2011

Right after Thanksgiving break we paid a visit to the Whitehouse Manor nursing home to help them decorate their Christmas tree. The girls spent time with 12 seniors for a couple hours. The seniors watched as the girls made quick progress with the tree decorations.

After the tree was completed, the seniors who were scouts as told us stories about the activities they did as young girls. Some of the items such as camping were the same as what we do today but many of the activities were different. One of the ladies who is in her 80's still remembers the name of her GS leader and talked with fond memories of sewing items to sell at a GS booth at the Lucas County Fair. The girls and the seniors played a good game of trivia and then paired off with one girl to one senior to have a word search competition. Boy did those ladies love their word search. We finished our visit by hand delievering Christmas cards to the residents who did not join us in the community room. We plan to go back soon with a gift of GS cookies for our new friends.
